"Jill's house" -- Sold

I finished this house portrait a few weeks ago. This house was built in 1880. Jill and her husband had put a lot of time to it to renovate the house. I know they are so proud of it.

"Rooster" -- Sold

How do you like the colors and the brush strokes of this rooster?

"Apple and Grapes" -- sold

How about a change of the subject – apple and grapes. I have not spent a lot of time to study on still life paintings. I think I should do more of these…

"Nature's coat of many colors" -- Sold

In this painting, I am focusing on the colors and the brush strokes.

"Golden Meadows"

This is another plein-air painting I did while I was at the Roger Dale Brown workshop.

"Mountain Stream"

This is one of my exercises of painting water reflection.

"Rest in the shade" - Sold

This is a plein-air painting I did while I was at the Roger Dale Brown workshop.

"Landscape #2"- Sold

This is another miniature painting.

"A Far River" - Sold

A few of my artist friends are thinking about doing a “miniature oil” show together in the near future. So I started to try out different subjects on the small canvases…

"Olivia" - Sold

Can you tell Olivia and Nathan are sister and brother? They have same shape of eyes. I love to see that large blue bow on her hair - It stuck out of the canvas a couple of times :-)

"Nathan" - Sold

This is 3 year old Nathan. It's amazing that how you feel like you know everything about this little guy after staring at his picture for a couple of days. He is just too cute.

RDB workshop

I have traveled a lot for the last a couple of months. So I've been behind on my blog postings. The picture showing here is the Roger Dale Brown workshop (April 10-13) I attended at Tupelo, MS. He is a national known landscape artist from Nashville, TN. I’ve learned a lot from the workshop. He is a great teacher.

"Quiet Retreat" -- Sold

I have been reading books about the “Tonal Value” as the very important aspect of a painting. This is one of my exercises of the value placement. This painting is dominated by the medium values. There are at least 4 values here.

"Harbor" -- Sold

This is so cool - I have submitted two paintings - "Harbor" and "Gary" for the MGAL Spring Show and I just found out that both paintings were selected by the Judge. The show will be on May 2 - May 28 at Germantown Performing Arts Centre.

"Gary"

I just finished this painting last week. I am thinking about take it to the MGAL Spring Art show. I need to look up the entry deadline, hope it's not too late to enter the show.

"Grandpa"

This is grandpa Glen. He hasn't had chance to see his own portrait yet. This is a harder one to paint since the most part of his face is in the shadow and he has very dark skin tone. But turned out it just looks like him.

"Noah"

I started studying portraits a few months ago. I am still trying to get familiar with the new oil palette. This one is my very first portrait in oil.
